I just finished reading the first Charlie Bone book. I loved it! It's kind of a washed out version of Harry Potter. Now I am reading The Spiderwick Chronicles. It was written by a Lemony Snicket Wanna be. Oh, speaking of, I read his latest book!! My dad got it for me (Isn't he awesome?), and I didn't even ask!! It is called, The Grim Grotto. I won't tell you anything exept this: Aye!!
And for those who haven't read The Series of Unfortunate Events, Rush to the Library right now!!!

When I wrote my review of Charlie Bone, I kept typing 'Harry' instead of 'Charlie'. Messy hair, missing father, unpleasant housemate, suddenly-discovered magical talent. . .
But I like the books very much. My only problem is that they seem so short on detail. Maybe the 700-page Potter books have spoiled me, but the CB books just seem undescriptive. I'm reading the third at the moment.
The Spiderwick books are alright, though incredibly short. If you want a real ASoUE wanna-be, try Philip Ardagh's 'Eddie Dickens Trilogy'. Similar writing style, unlucky protagonist, and even inturrupts to explain various words. (The first book is called 'Awful End'. The seoncd is 'Dreadful Acts'. I don't have the third, but don't particularly like the series anyway.)
